What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Property Accountant position at Brand Street Properties?
Fast-growing Greenwich-based real estate investment and management company, is seeking a strong Senior Property Accountant, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Property Accounting. This individual will assist with cash management, accounts receivable and property accounting for a portfolio of commercial and mixed-used properties. This role also offers close mentorship from a great mentor and significant potential for growth in our highly collaborative environment. This is a full-time, in-person position for our Greenwich, CT office.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee accounting duties for commercial and mixed-use properties
· Prepare financial statements for assigned portfolios
· Analyze/prepare annual CAM reconciliations
· Analyze the general ledger for each property and prepare monthly journal entries
· Calculate accruals and adjustments
· Maintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis for each investment
· Review results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variances
· Review invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocations
· Prepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrows
· Monitor cash balances and request capital funding or distributions, as needed
· Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
· Calculate real estate tax and operating expense escalations
· Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers
· Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
· Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of properties
· Prepare annual budget and reforecast
· Prepare real estate tax certiorari filings
· Interact with various audit firms for annual audits and tax return preparation
Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
· Background in public accounting or private industry within the real estate industry
· Knowledge of Yardi, MRI or similar software is preferred
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Self-starter with strong ability to organize and prioritize
· Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities
· Detail-oriented, proactive team player who can also work independently
