Position Summary
The Director of Project Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution, governance, and performance of Biogas Engineering’s industrial plant construction project portfolio. Reporting directly to the VP of Project Execution, this position leads the Project Management Office (PMO) and manages a team of four Project Managers responsible for the successful delivery of EPC and industrial infrastructure projects across renewable energy and process plant environments.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing complex industrial plant construction projects, including process facilities, energy infrastructure, EPC projects, or heavy industrial construction. This individual will drive project execution excellence, standardize PMO processes, mentor project leadership teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with strategic business objectives.
This role requires a strong operational leader with expertise in construction execution, project controls, risk management, client relations, and cross-functional leadership in fast-paced industrial project environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Project Management Office (PMO), including direct oversight and development of four Project Managers responsible for industrial and EPC construction projects
- Provide executive leadership across the full project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and turnover
- Establish and implement PMO standards, governance processes, project execution methodologies, and reporting structures to ensure consistency across the project portfolio
- Oversee the successful execution of multiple concurrent industrial plant construction projects, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client expectations
- Partner with executive leadership to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and align execution strategies with company growth objectives
- Lead portfolio-level planning, forecasting, staffing, and resource management activities across all active projects
- Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards, KPIs, risk registers, governance logs, and portfolio performance reporting
- Drive accountability and performance management for project teams, including coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and leadership development
- Support Project Managers in resolving complex construction, contractual, operational, and client-related challenges
- Lead project governance activities including stage-gate reviews, risk assessments, change management reviews, and portfolio audits
- Ensure effective implementation of project controls, cost tracking, schedule management, forecasting, and earned value management practices
- Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, HSE, and finance teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Participate in client meetings, executive reviews, contract negotiations, and strategic planning discussions
- Foster a culture focused on safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement, accountability, and high-performance project delivery
- Support business development and preconstruction efforts by providing execution strategy input, staffing plans, budgeting guidance, and constructability expertise
- Travel as necessary to project sites, client meetings, and company locations, including the ability to obtain a passport for international travel
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- 12 years of progressive project management and construction leadership experience
- 7 years of experience managing industrial plant construction, EPC, process facilities, renewable energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial projects
- 5 years of leadership experience managing project managers, PMO functions, or large-scale construction programs
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple concurrent industrial construction projects with significant capital budgets
- Strong understanding of EPC project delivery, industrial construction sequencing, commissioning/startup, and owner-contractor coordination
- Proven experience with project controls, cost management, forecasting, scheduling, and resource planning
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, project schedules, and technical documentation
- Experience implementing PMO governance frameworks, reporting standards, and operational best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and effectively communicate with executives, clients, contractors, and field personnel
- Proficiency with project management and construction software including Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- PMP certification preferred
- Experience in renewable natural gas (RNG), biogas, wastewater, energy infrastructure, or process plant environments strongly preferred
- Experience working within EPC or design-build project environments
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards, commissioning processes, and contractor management best practices
