Art Teacher - Bradley Elementary, 2026/27 SY

 

Purpose: The Art teacher will be responsible for developing an interest in art and the ability for creative expression in each student using the skills and the techniques of artistic expression consistent with district guidelines, to develop appreciation and understanding of different forms of art, and to discover the talents of each student in the field of art.

 

Reports To: Building Principal

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
  2. Valid Kansas Teaching License in Art (by July 1, 2026)
  3. Health and Innoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Three-plus years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting
  2. Strong knowledge of art techniques, art history, and various media
  3. Excellent classroom management, organization, and communication skills
  4. Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creative potential
  5. Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools related to art instruction

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Instruct students in art with plans, preparation, and outline of a plan of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and is aligned with all state and district standards
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, always treating students with dignity and respect
  • Manage the budget and resources of the art room including ordering new materials, ensuring cost-effective spending, and gaining administrative approval before making purchasing decisions
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to meet the learning needs of all students
  • Find ways to showcase student learning and growth in art
  • Incorporate instructional technology in a meaningful way into lessons regularly to increase student engagement and growth
  • Take all suitable and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Keep attendance records and maintain confidentiality of student records
  • Maintain a positive learning environment for all students and positively manage student discipline
  • Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and problems
  • Prepare, attend, and participate in faculty meetings, professional developments, parent-teacher conferences, and other professional meetings
  • Develop and maintain effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Supervise students in and around the school building, including before and after school, as assigned by the building principal.
  • React positively to change and frequent interruptions in an educational environment
  • Undertake efforts that promote professional growth in alignment with the District’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Adhere strictly to professional ethics
  • Ensure that substitute teachers will have adequate direction and lesson plans
  • Report all cases of suspected child abuse or neglect
  • Observe, enforce, and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration

  1. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  2. Ability to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  3. Ability to use fine and gross motor manipulation skills for extended periods of time
  4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
  5. Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
  6. Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
  7. Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead

Salary : $52,500 - $97,135
