Program Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven, and experienced Program Underwriter to grow our US underwriting portfolio from the early stages of the business alongside Brace USA’ President & Head of Marketing for North America. This individual will be responsible for underwriting delegated authority programs in the U.S. market, primarily working with Managing General Agents (MGAs), Managing General Underwriters (MGUs), and program administrators. The role includes evaluating and monitoring program performance, maintaining underwriting discipline, and contributing to profitable portfolio growth.

A key objective for this role will be to help grow the US underwriting business to a US$150 million written premium portfolio over the next three years, whilst maintaining a disciplined underwriting appetite for specialty product lines and multi-line trading structures.

Experience

• 7 – 15 years of relevant insurance experience in the US Programs space within a carrier, MGA or broker.
• Strong understanding of delegated authority structures, bordereaux analysis and program governance.
• Experience in navigating complex risk environments and underwriting a variety of insurance products.

Skills

• Strong negotiation skills and experience in building relationships with key stakeholders, brokers, and clients.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data, loss trends, and pricing analytics.
• Ability to clearly articulate underwriting rationale to key stakeholders and specifically 3rd party underwriting capacity.
