What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Scheduler position at BPG-USA?
To be considered for this position, candidates should have work experience scheduling production and/or worked in a manufacturing role.
REPORTS TO: Master Scheduling Manager &/or Plant General Manager
BASIC FUNCTION: Ensure efficient daily scheduling of production equipment to meet customer requirements while being mindful of controlling cost. Interact with all production departments as well as support departments and administrative staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule manufacturing equipment to meet sales and provide for short and long term production goals. Ensure that customer requirements are met.
- Monitor actual production versus planned production and make scheduling adjustments as necessary to maintain an efficient flow of product through the plant.
- Review the production plan while being mindful of staffing needs/constraints to insure all equipment can run when it’s actually scheduled to. Work with shift supervisors and manufacturing department managers so that all aspects of staffing are covered. Control cost by being mindful of overtime while meeting the needs of our customers. Sometimes we have to run overtime.
- Coordinate downtime requests with the manufacturing department managers and Production Support (Maintenance/Electrical) leadership while being mindful of customer requirements. Safety always comes before anything else!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates should have good communication skills as they will be working closing with all internal departments, as well as possibly external clients.
- Candidates should have good computer skills and be proficient at problem solving.
- Schedulers are on call 24/7 including some weekends when necessary and need to make fast response to supervisor calls.
