Responsibilities
As a Junior Database Administrator, you will assist in maintaining and supporting our diverse SQL environments while learning best practices for database administration. You’ll work closely with senior DBAs and application teams to ensure database performance, integrity, and availability.
- Assist with monitoring SQL databases for performance and availability.
- Support routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and patching.
- Help troubleshoot basic database issues under guidance from senior team members.
- Learn to optimize queries and indexes for better performance.
- Participate in implementing security standards and compliance requirements.
- Assist with database installations, upgrades, and configuration.
- Document processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL concepts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or similar database platforms.
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a technical role.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
- Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, T-SQL).
- Internship or hands-on experience with database administration tasks.
