GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Program Director is responsible for the development, and implementation all Programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Helena and Calistoga’s Units. Program Directors, under the supervision and direction of the Unit Director will use organizational program goals to develop and ensure the quality of all programs at each unit.
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Working with the Unit Director, Director of Operations and with school district personnel; the Program Director will organize and implement the Club’s enrichment programs, as well as Power Hour program consistent with ASES and Californian State Teaching Standards. The Program Director will also work closely with classroom teachers and school administrators in order to ensure a safe, cohesive, and engaging program that is enriching to its members but also supports school day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in a youth development setting. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Education or related field; or 3 years experience in an academic tutoring program is preferred.
- Should have an understanding and experience of individual and group dynamics.
- Experience in organizing, recruiting, and training staff or volunteers.
- Illustrate organizational, time management, planning, and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrate competent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to patrol Club and grounds on foot, physically be able to separate children
- involved in a physical altercation, visually observe program areas, and assist students with
- school/homework assignments.
- Possess current certificates in and be able to perform CPR and medical First Aid
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, and oversee programs not limited to Art, Drama, Healthy Lifestyles, STEM and science, and education.
- Oversee program/activity attendance.
- Enforce Club rules, use positive reinforcement; and take disciplinary action when necessary.
- Contribute to an Annual Program Calendar and support units regarding its goals and implementation.
- Schedule, organize, and facilitate monthly meetings with staff.
- Assist Unit Director in planning the Club’s weekly and monthly program calendars and staff schedules.
- Plan or assist in the organizing, promoting, and conducting of special programs and events.
- Participate in and ensure the complete and timely submission of the Organizations National Fine Arts Program.
- Communicate Club policies and procedures to all staff and assure their adherence.
- Attend and actively participate in all appropriate staff meetings and trainings.
- Assist in Boys & Girls Clubs of America Annual Report as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Program Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, promote and conduct diversified activities in all program areas. Activities should be based on the needs and interests of youth and available resources.
- Guide Members to complete quality projects.
- Promote interest and participation via announcements, flyers, contests, exhibitions, etc.
- Order and maintain program equipment and supplies.
- Maintains contact with external community groups, school, members' parents and others to further the goals and standards of the Club, but more specifically will interface with the community to promote the Club’s Programs through community display and shows.
- Help to create a safe environment during Club activities as needed.
- Attend any community, school or Club administrative meetings as directed.
- Other duties as assigned
