                                                                        Position Description

Title: Workforce Specialist


Reports to: Teen Center Unit Director
Status: Part-time 25-29 hours a week


Position Summary

The Workforce Specialist is responsible for coordinating, and implementing workforce readiness initiatives for tween and teen members. This position provides case management, career development, and hands-on training opportunities to prepare members for youth worker and entry-level employment positions within the Clubs and the community.

The Workforce Specialist will work directly with the Teen Center Unit Director to create and manage workforce-related programs, establish youth employment positions, and oversee teens placed in paid or volunteer roles within the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation

  • Coordinate, and facilitate workforce readiness programs focused on career exploration, job training, and employability skills for members ages 12–18.
  • Develop structured youth employment pathways within the Club (e.g., Youth Workers, program aides, recreation assistants, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Teen Director to align all workforce initiatives with BGCA’s “Career Launch” and “Money Matters” programs.
  • Plan and lead workshops on job readiness, financial literacy, resume building, and interview skills.

Case Management

  • Maintain individual case files for participating members, tracking career interests, skills, goals, and outcomes.
  • Provide one-on-one career coaching, mentoring, and job placement support.
  • Connect youth with local employers, training programs, and educational partners.

Staff & Member Supervision

  • Recruit, train, and supervise teen members placed in workforce positions within the Clubs.
  • Support site directors in managing youth staff performance and professional growth.
  • Evaluate member progress and provide feedback to ensure skill development and job success.

Administration

  • Maintain attendance, performance, and outcome records in accordance with organizational and grant requirements.
  • Assist with program evaluation, data collection, and reporting for grants

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with teens in career readiness, education, or youth development.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with youth populations.
  • Experience in coaching, training, or mentoring young people for employment success.
  • Knowledge of local workforce and community resources is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
