The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint is to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. As a Youth Development Professional, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our Club members (ages 7–17) and guiding them toward success throughout the year.
You’ll plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate engaging programs and activities that inspire creativity, build academic success, promote healthy lifestyles, and develop good character and citizenship. Most importantly, you’ll help create a safe, positive, and fun environment where every Club member can learn, grow, and thrive every day.

Essential Job Duties:
Prepare Youth For Success:
- Create an environment that supports the achievement of our Youth Development Outcomes.
- Encourage and engage Club members to actively participate in our programs.
- Foster a safe and positive atmosphere where character, citizenship, and leadership development can flourish.
- Provide guidance and serve as a positive role model for our Club members.
Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and deliver engaging programs, services, and activities for our drop-in members and visitors.
- Continuously assess and evaluate programs to ensure they meet safety standards and deliver high-quality experiences.
- Keep track of program participation and maintain up-to-date participant rosters.
- Prepare activity reports to track progress and outcomes.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming Club facility.
- Explore potential partnerships to enhance our program offerings.
Additional Responsibilities
- Get involved in special programs and events, such as field trips, beyond regular work hours.
- Supervise and transport Club members in Club vehicles when necessary.
- Provide support in other program areas if needed due to staffing shortages.
- Help with general maintenance and cleaning of the Club and surrounding grounds.
- Report any concerns or issues related to the environment, staff, or programs promptly.

Relationships
Internal: Maintains contact with supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, Club members’ parents/guardians and others if required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or GED
- Experience working with children/teens
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and balance competing demands.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Criminal Background Check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of youth development practices.
- Knowledge of mental health as it pertains to youth services.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and reach.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to pull, push, or lift up to 25 lbs.
