The Program Team Lead serves as one of our three full time staff at our Steil Club.

School Year:

- Monday-Thursday 11:30am-7:30pm

- Fridays 10am-6pm

Summer:

- Monday-Thursday 9:30am-5:30pm

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provide a safe and positive environment that promotes the development and success of Club members. Responsible for assisting the Club Director and Assistant Director with the coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs/special events/activities provided within all program areas. Provide support and leadership to Youth Development Professionals within one of our core program areas (Arts & Education or Recreation and Physical Education)

Key Roles

● Play a key part in the Club leadership team to help create and implement BGCA programming for all ages.

● Assist with the recruitment and implementation of teen initiatives include workforce readiness, athletics and teen parties

● Assist Club Leadership to train/onboard YDPs on the program procedures of their designated Club Site (rotation schedules, program schedules, equipment usage)

● Conduct regular meetings and check-ins with YDPs stationed in your core program area.

● Assist in the evaluation of designated Club Site’s outcome-driven programs/special events/activities

● Assist Club Leadership with the implementation of quality and standard outcome measurement assessments (ex. Membership monthly reports, NYOI, CQI etc.)

● Assist Club Leadership with inputting program data into the membership tracking system as needed

● Conduct Club tours and orientations as needed

● Be a part of the Club leadership team and provide general leadership in the running of the Club

● As part of the leadership team conduct regular school visits to recruit and support current members

● Provide mentorship to Club members through the OJP program

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist in daily building clean up: overall facility housekeeping, program area, restrooms, kitchen and entry ways

· Participate in weekly Club staff meetings, regular Organizational meetings and quarterly trainings.

· Participate in special programs and/or events as necessary for programming needs. This may include occasional weekends

· May be required to drive an organizational vehicle

· Other duties as assigned

· Handle and serve food

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Works closely with and makes regular reports to the Club Director and Assistant Director, participates in weekly Leadership Team meetings, and meetings with the Director of Operations and Director of Social and Emotional Learning.

External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to promote the success of the Club and organization.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

- Minimum 1yr. experience working with youth grades K-12

- Experience and demonstrated ability of youth development (knowledge of BGCA programs and initiatives a plus)

- Experience and demonstrated ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems

- Experience and demonstrated ability to support social and emotional learning of youth

- Experience and demonstrated abilities in customer or client services and external communication

- Ability to develop, plan, and implement quality programs for youth

- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment

- CPR and FIRST AID Certified or ability to be certified

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office setting to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present. All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
