Job Summary: Provide in-person and/or telehealth comprehensive mental health services, case management and other related support services to individuals, groups and families referred by Social Services Agency (SSA): Responsible for meeting contractual obligations per Social Service Agency guidelines. Uphold agency productivity expectations including accurate and detailed records of client interactions, and monthly client service logs while maintaining a minimum of 10 client caseload per week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Support programs, activities and services that prepare individuals and families for success by incorporating the mission
• Contribute to identifying and implementing strategies for quality improvement of BGCGG counseling programs
• Create an environment that promotes the physical, social and emotional well-being of youth and their families through providing parent support towards improving child’s functioning and ensuring psychiatric services are coordinated and accessed in a timely manner
• Maintain open communication with team and clients in accordance with therapeutic confidentiality; work one-on-one with youth and adults
• Maintain confidence and adept at conflict resolution strategies, demonstrate experience in ethical standards of reporting, remain objective in crisis situations, and maintain healthy boundaries
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations; maintain clear understanding of ethical and legal obligations under BBS
• Ensure the Counseling locations used meet health and safety standards and ensure the safety of all members
• Take actions to prevent accidents and respond to injury and signs of illness; use sound judgment regarding safety; adapt and be flexible
• Demonstrate experience in case management and knowledge in case management philosophy and function
• Maintain a minimum of 10 clients on caseload - caseload commiserates with weekly hours worked; follow-up and manage demanding caseload
• Maintain detailed records of significant contacts, incidents, relationships, treatment team meetings, and case management activity
• Adhere to proper documentation procedures and processes according to Social Services Agency and Board of Behavioral Sciences standards
• Complete daily process notes for each client in case load within 24 hours and keep client information up to date
• Document all services rendered including phone contact, completed services, referrals, etc. in database/case notes; maintain excellent documentation skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and descriptively
• Effectively support the planning, development and implementation of counseling programs, services, and activities
• Create treatment plans in collaboration with client in relation to SSA referral
• Effectively monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities through completing weekly client services log and direct services hour logs and submit to supervisor and Social Services Agency in a timely manner
• Ensure a productive work environment by working as a member of a team, contributing to team meetings and providing feedback to support decision making; work cooperatively and positively in a team approach with staff and management personnel
• Work productively with minimum supervision and take initiative on projects
• Continuously develop own knowledge and skills in each of the various Family Strengthening programs in order to diversify skills
• Continuously develop own knowledge and skills in each of the various Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove’s programs in order to diversify skills and integrate self into the community and organization as a whole
• Effectively use Microsoft Office programs - specifically Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and Publisher, use a variety of computer software applications, electronic scheduling, and database software
• Maintain knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, following up on phone calls, receiving and documenting payments, completing reports, and tracking data
• Build partnerships with parents, families, other BGCGG program staff and community partners; network and establish collaborative relationships
• Attend weekly Quality Review Committee meetings, clinical supervision sessions, staff meetings and conferences and trainings as required
• Increase the visibility of BGCGG programs, services and activities through networking opportunities, outreach and community partnerships
• Share event announcements, program updates and distribute program flyers at events, meetings and when communicating with the community and BGCGG
• Promote and assist with BGCGG organizational events in addition to support organizational fundraising efforts
• Maintain close, daily contact with staff members and supervisors to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel
• Utilize exceptionally strong verbal and writing skills; communicate needs and concerns clearly and document services and correspondence in a clear and concise manner in accordance with program standards
• Maintain regular contact with external community groups, schools, social workers, clients, BGCGG partners and others to promote and ensure family information and referral services are successful
• Maintain and use exceptional written and verbal communication skills; provide feedback regularly; speak in front of large and small groups
• Be resourceful and knowledgeable of community based mental health services; work with diverse populations in a culturally competent manner
• Maintain strong organizational skills with attention to detail, prioritize and complete multiple tasks within expected deadlines, and continuously
manage own time and resources
• Follow organizational procedures and policies; uphold the organization’s mission and values
• Work within administrative and process parameters as required
Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, sociology, social work or related field

At least two years of experience in the human services field with training and experience related to the provision of counseling in the areas of child abuse and neglect

Must be registered with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) with an active associate license and maintain license

Must have and maintain valid Professional Liability Insurance (Malpractice Insurance)

Must have knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft Office and have basic computer skills

Bilingual capabilities preferred
