What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Social and Emotional Wellness position at Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains?
Primary Function:
Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains (BGCSM) seeks to meet the social and emotional needs in our community through formalized behavioral health support programs within our Club sites. The Director of Social & Emotional Wellness will have two primary initiatives: provide direction for the intervention of Club members in regards to the Social & Emotional Wellness programs and provide direct services to Club families.
Key Responsibilities:
o Drive the strategy, direction, and implementation of the BGCSM Social & Emotional Wellness program.
o Collaborate with the Program Leadership Team and individual Club departments in the facilitation/delivery of Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) and Health Programming by creating an integrated and comprehensive approach to programming.
o Provide ongoing support and counsel for Club Directors and staff regarding difficult behavioral challenges with members or families.
o Participate in continuous improvements and additions to BGCSM’s standard operating procedures to provide perspective from a trauma-informed, behavioral health focused perspective.
o Collaborate with Training & Development and Program Leadership Team to provide ongoing training for staff as needed on topics ranging from self-care, secondary trauma, ACES, and more.
o Foster positive relationships with local universities that have MSW programs to recruit and supervise interns annually.
o Define key performance indicators to assess outcome-based evaluation of programs.
o Managing, implementing and assisting with grant requirements.
o Manage grants by maintaining accurate & updated documentation, budgets, reports and other required information
o Collaborate with Resource & Development to identify grant funds that will support program initiatives.
o Promote and represent the behavioral health programs to our various external stakeholders, including but not limited to grant requirements and data collection.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Master of Social Work degree from an accredited University required
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred
- Two years post master’s experience required; must be currently working in the social work field for over 5 years.
- Experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization with youth and knowledge of youth developmental strategies.
- Strong foundation of knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experience. Building strong brains trainers preferred.
- Strong communication skills: verbal & written, public speaking and community advocacy.
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support members, families and staff in a crisis or stressful situation.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in a non-traditional setting
- Knowledge and practice of the Social Work Code of Ethics and Values.
