What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Hour Coordinator position at BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF SARASOTA AND DESOTO COUNTIES INC?
Primary Function: Under the supervision of the Club Director, the Power Hour employee assists members in homework and other educational needs.
Position Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
- Prepare youth for success by creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development outcomes which include:
- promote and stimulate program participation
- provide an environment cohesive with learning and focus to assessments
- monitor school agendas, grades and skill level of members to show improvement
- provide guidance and role modeling to members.
- Develop, implement, and administer programs, services and activities for members to promote education.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure:
- safety of members
- quality in programs
- attractiveness of the Project Learn program
- Prepare weekly schedule of programs and monthly evaluation reports.
- May participate in special programs and/or events.
Qualifications:
- Background in Education
- Degree in Education or related experience or equivalent experience
- Experience working with children.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Valid State Drivers License
- Must possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, youth, parents, local community leaders, schools, and community organizations
- Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word required)
- Required to stand, walk and sit.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
