The Summer Program Assistant provides direct supervision of youth members and assists Youth Development Professionals in the implementation of programs and activities. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting. A strong understanding of child development principles and the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds. Think half-court youth basketball games, a photography class, or a science activity!
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in facilitating programming in various areas of the Club (arts, gym, etc.) that promote social, emotional, and physical development among youth
- Assists with administrative duties, as needed, including: calendars, lesson plans, pre/post testing, attendance and participation tracking
- Ensures the safety of all members and maintains active supervision of youth and teen Club members by following all safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols
Additional Responsibilities
- Travel between Club locations for trainings and meetings
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Age and Education Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Must complete organizational training upon hiring
Skills:
- A passion and understanding of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Club of Franklin-Simpson & Allen County-Scottsville
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly, and cooperative attitude in the workplace
- High ethical standards
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with internal staff and external partners
- An understanding of the needs and interests of young people
- Ability to manage groups and address behavioral challenges using positive guidance
