What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Coordinator position at Boys & Girls Club of Franklin-Simpson?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Activities Coordinator provides direct supervision of youth and is responsible for planning and implementing safe, engaging and positive programming activities for children and teens. This role ensures that all activities align with the Boys & Girls Club mission to provide enriching, safe and inclusive experiences for youth.
Throughout our summer program (June 1-July 31), hours are flexible between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. After school program (August-May) hours are 2 PM- 7 PM, Monday through Friday.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Plan, organize, and lead all physical activities and game room operations, including recreational games, outdoor activities, and structured physical movement activities for Club members
- Design activities that are inclusive, age-appropriate, and adaptable to varying skill levels
- Maintain supply inventory and work within provided budgets
- Create a structured, welcoming environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and confidence
- Set up, organize, and maintain activity spaces, equipment, and supplies
- Document activities and track participation and engagement levels to evaluate effectiveness
- Manage ongoing administrative responsibilities, ensuring timely completion of calendars, lesson plans, pre/post assessments, and attendance tracking on a regular basis
- Ensures the safety of all members and maintains active supervision of youth and teen Club members by following all safety policies, procedures, and emergency protocols
- Transport youth and/or teens to various locations via BGC vehicles, as needed
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel between Club locations for trainings and meetings
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Age, Education, and Experience Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Must complete organizational training upon hiring
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in after-school, camp, or community-based youth programs preferred
- Experience planning activities that promote engagement and physical movement preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is an active, hands-on role that involves standing, walking, and participating in child-centered activities in indoor and outdoor settings, including gym spaces. The Activities Coordinator must possess the ability to:
- work in a fast-paced and loud environment
- continuously stand and move around the Club
- lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
