Primary Responsibilities:
- Be a responsible and positive adult role model who is effective at building relationships with Club members in grades four through eight (our main Clubhouse on Oak Street in Burlington)
- Foster a safe, fun and inclusive environment
- Lead groups of youth in a broad range of programs such as athletics, cooking, life skills, music, arts and/or academic enrichment
- Plan programs that support overall priority outcome areas of academic success, character building and healthy lifestyles
- Demonstrate leadership and manage behaviors to assure both safety and development of Club members.
- Maintain contact as needed with schools, families and other external groups to assist in achieving Club member and organizational goals
Additional Responsibilities:
- Other responsibilities as needed, including participation in additional programs/events, including fundraising activities
- Maintain data required for grant and licensing reports
Desired/Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
- Required- Experience planning and running programs based on the developmental needs of a diverse group of young people.
- Success with social emotional learning and trauma informed practices
- Experience, lived or otherwise, working with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as people who are LGBTQ or “first in family” to attend college
- Group leadership skills
- Flexible, entrepreneurial enthusiasm
- Willing and able to become CPR certified
- Required: employment subject to successfully passing a background check and completion of trainings required by the state of Vermont and Boys & Girls Clubs of America
- Required: must be at least 18 years of age
The Position:
- Required - Must be able to work at least 3 days a week; available shifts are 2:30 - 5:30 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 1:30 - 5:30 pm on Wednesday
- Fully in-person
- Pay: $19.00/hour
- Reports To: Program Director
About the Boys & Girls Club:
The Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit organization serving kids and youth in the out-of-school hours by providing a safe place, helping to character development and supporting academic success. Membership is $5/year - and nobody is ever turned away for an inability to pay. 80% of our budget is supported by fundraising from the community; the remaining 20% is supported by government funding.
