PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM
Kraft is a 13 bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) for adolescent males who require a step-down from inpatient prior to returning to the community. The program focuses on improving adaptive life skills and strengthening the family’s readiness for the client to return home. Safe Haven is a 14-bed residential program for adolescent boys with Problem Sexual Behaviors who require a structured, staff secure facility to address their behaviors.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Clinical Director of Residency Services ensures the quality of KRAFT and Safe Haven’s clinical and aftercare services. Responsible for ensuring that clinical services are quality driven, strength based, family focused and delivered in a fiscally effective manner. The Director executes the position through programmatic oversight and development, direct supervision of key staff, modeling and active leadership in meetings. Under the direction of the VP’s of Residencies and QA Department ensures policies and procedures that are in accordance with contracts, licensing and accreditation standards. Assures that programs provide treatment services which are comprehensive, timely, and effective and are in accordance with the mission and goals of the agency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the programs’ clinical lead, including ensuring all program components are trauma informed and support the overarching and specific treatment goals of the youth served. Attend rounds consistently, taking a lead role where and as appropriate.
- Responsible for reviewing all treatment plans.
- Ensures that clinical and risk management protocols for youth with PSB are employed.
- Ensures appropriate utilization and quality management of programs, including development of program specific PQI indicators
- Actively collaborates with all members of the multidisciplinary teams, including Nursing, Milieu, and Medical staff.
- Works with the Director of School SWs to integrate communication and continuity in youths’ treatment.
- Responsible for coordinating with referral sources, and prospective clients scheduling pre-placements and intakes.
- Identifies and implements training, mentoring, coaching, supervision to ensure quality necessary to implement clinical and aftercare services.
- Acts as a liaison with stakeholders to maintain a positive working relationship and to represent mission and goals of Agency.
- Support licensing reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversee documentation standards and ensure timely completion of clinical notes.
- Provides direct supervision of clinicians, case manager, and transitional care coordinators.
- Actively coordinates with Quality Department and participates in all audits including COA, DPH, DCF, CSSD, and others.
- Oversees that all clinical and aftercare documentation are completed in accordance with state and federal standards.
- Attends appropriate Behavioral Health forums/meetings on Statewide basis.
- Ensures that DCF and Boys & Girls Village Leadership is notified of any allegations of abuse and/or neglect of children in care
- Completes all necessary reporting for ASO/DCF/CSSD and other licensing or regulatory agencies as required.
- Responsible for implementation and participation of on call system.
- Carries out other job related duties as necessary.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, MFT, LPC or higher with license in mental health field.
- Minimum 5-years of progressive management experience at the Master’s level in a residential or clinical services, including direct supervision.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with a visible, hands-on leadership approach.
- Must have proven ability to organize professional staff.
- Knowledge and experience in delivery of intensive pediatric behavioral health services, including milieu-based services or an equivalent.
- Understanding of billing and Medicaid regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish desired
- Knowledge of the treatment of youth with Problem Sexual Behavior
- Experience with implementation and application of trauma informed treatment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct supervision of Clinical Staff, TCCs, Case Managers
- Oversees supervision for all staff in Residentials
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be in sufficient physical condition to interact on regular basis with various programs/staff, including passing TCI training and participating in client restraints if necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s License and ability to drive off site to statewide meetings
- Flexible work schedule to include occasional nights and weekends
