About the Role:
The Bus Driver position at our Cocoa Branch is integral to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services within the Consumer Support Services industry. The primary goal of this role is to ensure passengers reach their destinations on time while adhering strictly to all safety and regulatory standards. This position requires operating commercial vehicles responsibly, managing routes effectively, and maintaining clear communication with dispatch and passengers. The Bus Driver will also be responsible for performing routine vehicle inspections and reporting any maintenance needs to ensure operational safety. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing customer satisfaction by delivering professional and courteous service in every interaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to read maps and follow complex route instructions accurately.
- Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Physical capability to lift and carry heavy weights and assist passengers as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in bus driving or commercial vehicle operation within the consumer support or transportation industry.
- Familiarity with dispatching systems and communication devices.
- Customer service experience demonstrating professionalism and courteous interaction with passengers.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for identifying and reporting vehicle issues.
- Training or certification in first aid or emergency response.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial buses safely and efficiently along designated routes within the Cocoa area, adhering to scheduled timetables.
- Read and interpret maps and route instructions to navigate effectively and adjust routes as necessary.
- Load and unload passengers, including assisting with lifting and carrying heavy items when required, ensuring passenger safety at all times.
- Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, including conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and follow instructions regarding route changes, delays, or emergencies.
- Manage vehicle controls such as brakes and gears smoothly to provide a comfortable ride and ensure safety.
- Climb stairs and assist passengers as needed, especially those with mobility challenges.
- Work overtime as required to meet operational demands and maintain service continuity.
