Opportunity Overview: Bank of America Student Leaders/YouthForce Intern
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of King County is to, inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as a productive, responsible, and caring citizens. We recognize that some youth need specialized supports to overcome barriers to reach their full potential. The YouthForce program works with community partners to provide employment, education, training, and support services to help prepare young people for their journey into the work force as responsible, productive and caring community members.
The Bank of America Student Leaders/ YouthForce Intern is a paid summer opportunity designed for emerging young leaders committed to community impact and professional growth. Selected participants will engage in a 6-week, full-time nonprofit internship, paired with leadership development programming and a national summit experience.
This program aims to cultivate civic engagement, leadership skills, and career readiness among students who demonstrate strong academic performance, community involvement, and leadership potential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in a full-time (minimum 35 hours/week) 6-week paid internship at YouthForce of Boys & Girls Clubs of King County between June and July 2026
- Actively contribute to YouthForce programs or projects that address community needs and align with personal interests
- Attend and fully participate in the Bank of America 3-Day Leadership Summit (June 16–18, 2026)
- Collaborate with peers, mentors, and YouthForce staff to develop professional and leadership skills
- Represent YouthForce|BGCKC and Bank of America’s Student Leaders program with professionalism and integrity
- Engage actively in community service, work, or entrepreneurial activities during and beyond the internship period
- Support the facilitation of and youth participation in Career Readiness curriculum
- Maintain an environment that facilitates the implementation and achievement of youth development outcomes through program service delivery
- Ensure member confidentiality during and after employment: which includes, but not limited to membership data, school data, and other information obtained
- Support intern recruitment efforts for teens from BGCKC, local school districts, and community-based organizations through collaborative partnerships
- Participate in special programs, events, or other duties as directed by YF Program and Executive Director
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement & Policy:
On August 18, 2021 Governor Jay Inslee announced that most child care, early learning, and youth development providers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 18, 2021 or obtain a religious or medical accommodation.
All BGCKC youth facing staff have provided proof of vaccination. BGCKC volunteers fall under this mandate as well. Please reach out to Human Resources at hr2@positiveplace.org to obtain the form to request a religious or medical accommodation.
COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States are effective at protecting people from getting seriously ill, getting hospitalized, and even dying. As with vaccines for other diseases, people who are up to date are optimally protected. CDC recommends that everyone 5 years and older get their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines, and receive a booster dose when eligible.
People are considered “fully vaccinated” after 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
- Have earned a high school diploma (or equivalent) within the last 24 months
- Have completed at least 12 and no more than 18 post-secondary credit hours
- Be a student in good academic standing at their post-secondary institution
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship through July 2026
- Reside in an eligible program location during Summer 2026
- Provide a current post-secondary transcript verifying credits earned
- Submit an overview of academic, professional, and leadership accomplishments
- Obtain two (2) recommendations from:
- Current post-secondary institution staff (e.g., professor, dean), OR
- Former high school representatives (e.g., teacher, counselor, coach)
- Not have previously participated in the Bank of America Student Leaders program as a high school student
- Not be a Bank of America employee or an immediate family member of an employee
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
- A clear interest in community service or social impact aligned with the internship opportunity
- Leadership experience within the past 24 months
- Active involvement outside of academics, including:
- Volunteer service
- Work experience or work-study
- Entrepreneurial or independent initiatives
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- A track record of high achievement (top 20% of recommended applicants)
- Ability to maintain professionalism/be aware and manage personal bias and attitudes
- Ability to model and guide youth in strengths-based problem solving, goal setting and job ready skills
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to program changes
- Current CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred
- Must have reliable independent transportation for travel between club sites
