Title: Program Coordinator- Summer Parks
Reports To: Director of Extended Programs
Wage: $15.00 - $16.50 /hr 25 hours/ week
Status: Seasonal (June-August), Non- Exempt
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support supervision and instruction of Club programs, assisting the program coordinators
Provide guidance and enforcement of all relevant policies and procedures to participants and guests in program spaces.
Participate in the daily stewardship of assigned program spaces including, but not limited to, cleaning and safety inspections.
Program Development and Implementation
Collaborate in the development and implementation of program goals
Maintain settings that ensure the health, safety, and sense of belonging for Club members, staff, and guests.
Participate in the evaluation of programs to ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
Help create a Club environment that facilitates the achievement of desirable youth development outcomes
Contribute to positive youth development through relationship building, providing recognition, influencing, coaching by example and servant leadership, providing members with feedback, listening and fostering organizational wellness
Serve as a mentor and life-skills teacher to all members at all times
Fulfill additional responsibilities for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Muskegon Lakeshore on or off-site.
Supervision
Support team members in the supervision of participants
Assist in proper and timely record keeping and reporting. This may include, but is not limited to, program attendance, incident reporting, program audits, and equipment inventory
Resource Management
Ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are properly maintained
Ensure a healthy and safe environment by acting to ensure safety and environmental policies and regulatory requirements are met
Implement and evaluate programs, services and activities
Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and teaching by example by doing one’s best and encouraging others to do their best
Assess one’s own strengths and development needs and taking action to improve one’s capacity to perform tasks, achieve higher levels of responsibility and better serve the needs of customers
Partnership Development
Work with others to accomplish team objectives
Marketing and Public Relations
Develop positive partnerships with supervisors, members, parents, and families
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consult with supervisor concerning member issues; exercising leadership in handling problems related to members, as needed
Conduct administrative duties, as assigned (such as outreach and data input)
Participate in special Club programs and events and represent the Club through community involvements
Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments
Advise professional staff of needed supplies and equipment
Utilize guidance and discipline plan
Perform all other duties that may be necessary to carry out the purpose of the organization.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths’ level.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time.
Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facilities, on the property and/or on field trips.
