Food Service Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary: The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for planning, preparing, and managing daily snack and meal service for 100 plus Club members, while ensuring full compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. This role oversees all aspects of food service operations, including meal preparation, menu planning, food ordering, inventory management, budget monitoring, recordkeeping, and kitchen sanitation. This position plays a critical role in supporting high-quality youth programming by ensuring members have consistent access to nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Part-time position (approximately 28 hours per week)

· Reports directly to the Director of Operations

· Approximate schedule: M-F 2:00 pm -7:30 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Daily Meal Preparation & Service Operations

· Prepare and serve daily snacks and meals in accordance with CACFP guidelines and approved menus

· Ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and on schedule to meet program needs

· Maintain consistent portioning, meal quality, and presentation standards

· Adjust meal preparation based on daily attendance and program flow

Menu Planning & CACFP Compliance

· Plan menus that meet CACFP nutritional requirements and align with program needs and preferences

· Maintain accurate daily production records, meal counts, and all required CACFP documentation

· Ensure full compliance with CACFP regulations, including readiness for monitoring and audits

· Partner with the Director of Operations to ensure documentation accuracy, reporting, and compliance oversight

· Stay current on applicable food service regulations, nutrition guidelines, and CACFP requirements

Inventory, Ordering & Cost Management

· Develop and manage food orders through vendors, distributors, and local purchasing

· Pick up food and supplies as needed

· Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing waste

· Track and manage food costs within established budget parameters

· Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance

· Maintain organized inventory and storage systems

Kitchen Operations & Sanitation

· Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times

· Complete all required daily and weekly cleaning tasks, including dishes, surfaces, and equipment

· Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and food safety standards

· Properly store food and monitor temperatures in accordance with safety guidelines

· Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs to the Director of Operations

Additional Responsibilities include the following:

· Support special events, summer programming, and other Club activities that require food service or meal preparation

· Assist with planning and preparation for special meals, celebrations, and program-related food activities

· Communicate effectively with the Director of Operations and program staff regarding food service needs, schedules, attendance, and member dietary considerations

· Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as appropriate

· Assist with the development and implementation of food service procedures and systems as the Club's food service program grows

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations

Qualifications:

Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· ServSafe Manager certification required (or ability to maintain within 60 days)

· Experience in food preparation in a commercial or high-volume setting preferred

· Familiarity with CACFP or other child nutrition programs strongly preferred

· Valid driver’s license and ability to pick up food and supplies as needed

· Ability to pass required background screenings

Skills and Knowledge

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with compliance documentation

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and ordering systems

· Commitment to the mission and values of the Boys & Girls Club

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 4–6 hours per shift)

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds regularly

· Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive motions associated with food preparation and cleaning activities

· Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, and noise

· Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the kitchen space safely and efficiently

· Must be able to follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper use of kitchen equipment and cleaning supplies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
