The Terrain Park Cat Operator plays a critical role in creating and maintaining world-class terrain park experiences for our guests. This specialized position combines technical expertise in snow grooming with artistic vision to construct and maintain terrain park features that provide safe, progressive, and exciting experiences for riders of all skill levels.
Come work and play at Seattle’s home mountain, The Summit at Snoqualmie. Located an hour West of Seattle via Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, The Summit includes four unique mountain areas, a snow tubing park, Nordic center, SnowSports School, and 10 food and beverage establishments.
Responsibilities
As a Terrain Park Cat Operator you will:
Excellence in Execution
- Complete comprehensive equipment inspections and checklists, documenting snowcat condition and reporting any maintenance needs
- Wait for official mountain clearance from Ski Patrol or Grooming Supervisor before beginning operations
- Begin each shift with essential "pushing" and blade work, allowing proper snow setup time before precision tilling operations
- Perform meticulous maintenance on all groom-able takeoffs, landings, and transitions for optimal safety and performance
- Maintain surrounding terrain areas to create seamless flow and safe buffer zones around park features
Long Term Thinking
- Complete all required documentation including equipment checklists, cat maintenance logs, Park Groomer Nightly Reports, and Terrain Park Feature Placement Maps
- Create detailed Build Maps when constructing new features or relocating existing ones for accurate safety documentation
- Maintain organized paperwork systems and ensure all documentation reaches appropriate departments promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Develop Great People
- Collaborate with Park Grooming Supervisor on complex projects including new feature construction, jib installation/removal, and special event course preparation
Attitude is Everything
- Review nightly grooming assignments from the Park Grooming Supervisor via communication boards and direct briefings
Qualifications

Required
- Demonstrated proficiency with heavy machinery and hydraulic systems
- Ability to perform equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
- Strong radio communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Consistent attendance with strong work ethic and commitment to team success
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team
- Precision-oriented mindset with focus on safety and quality standards
- Comfortable working in challenging mountain weather conditions
- Valid driver's license required

Wage and Benefit Info:
The wage range for this positions is: from $25.00-$29.00/hr DOE
This is a non-benefited role.
All individuals may contribute to the 401(k). An employee must work 1,000 hours in a calendar year to qualify for the discretionary match (there is a 2 year vesting cliff).
All individuals accrue sick time at 1 hour per 40 hours worked to a maximum of 64 hours per year.
