Responsibilities
After an orientation period and on-the-job training, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Operate snowmaking equipment on mountainous terrain in all types of weather including set up, start up, operation of, and shut down of snowmaking equipment, checking snow gun functioning capacity, and monitoring snow quality.
- Inspect guns, hose, hydrants and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor performance as needed to ensure proper air/water combination and quality snow.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, and be able to negotiate all types of terrain while maneuvering snowmaking equipment.
- Operate high voltage equipment, high pressure air and water systems utilizing appropriate safety precautions.
- Set up, tear down, and maintain snowmaking equipment in a safe and efficient manner on any trail that has snowmaking on it.
- Work on the production of snow to create the best skiing surface.
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of buildings, equipment, snow guns, and hoses.
- Responsible for checking out and returning all tools, headlamps, and radios to original locations.
- Unconditionally use the appropriate PPE required for the various types of work to be done.
- Report any needed repairs or malfunctions to the supervisors.
- Receive daily work instruction and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management or supervisor with a positive attitude.
- Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to lift, bend, kneel and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. to complete tasks.
- Basic hand tool knowledge and skill.
- Able to define problems, establish facts and draw conclusions.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, potentially high-pressure environment.
- Flexible with hours and days of work.
- Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
- Able to work in harsh winter conditions with extremes of temperature, wind, and precipitation for extended period outdoors in an alpine environment.
