Overview

Teaches the basic techniques of mountain biking, according to guidelines established by resort, in a group or individual setting and based on customer skill level. Must be energetic, outgoing, and able to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner. As a customer-focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and conduct both group and private bike lessons for guests in accordance with the guidelines established by resort
  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate proper mountain biking techniques
  • To further promote and act as a role model in the area of the biker responsibility code, safety and risk awareness as prescribed by resort's safety policies
  • To be familiar with and adhere to the policies and procedures of the resort Handbook and the resort Bike Shop Manual
  • Assist the biking public whenever possible
  • Assist bike shop with daily rentals/returns and basic bike maintenance procedures
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort, proper care of equipment, and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively within a professional manner.

Basic math skills are required.

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding and to solve practical problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and downhill bike at an intermediate or above skill level. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, heat and sun. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
