The Opportunity

This role is for an experienced residential architectural designer or drafter who understands

how to turn design concepts and existing conditions into accurate, buildable construction

documents.

We are looking for someone with approximately 5–10 years of residential drafting and design

experience, ideally involving renovations, additions, and custom residential projects. Practical

experience producing construction documents and permit drawings is more important to us than

a specific degree or professional license.You will work closely with our design, estimating, and construction teams to develop

architectural plans, coordinate permit documents, navigate municipal approvals, and help move

projects from design through permitting and into construction.

This is not a drafting-only position. The right candidate will have the opportunity to see projects

through the entire design-build process and work directly with the people responsible for

estimating and constructing the projects they help design.

Job Responsibilities

You will be involved in residential projects from initial field documentation and design

development through permitting and construction.

• Develop architectural and site drawings for residential renovations, additions, custom

homes, and related projects

• Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans, site plans, construction details, and

other project drawings

• Translate conceptual designs and sketches into accurate and coordinated construction

documents

• Coordinate architectural drawings with structural engineers, surveyors, civil engineers,

architects, and other consultants

• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and consistency
• Prepare permit drawing sets and required documentation for residential building permits
• Research zoning requirements, setbacks, lot coverage, building requirements, and

applicable local ordinances

• Coordinate directly with city and county building, planning, site development, and zoning

departments

• Respond to permit review comments and coordinate required drawing revisions
• Track permit applications and proactively follow up with municipalities to keep projects

moving

• Collaborate with estimating and construction teams to ensure drawings contain the

information necessary to accurately price and build each project

• Visit project sites as needed to document existing conditions, verify dimensions, and

assist with design or construction questions

Job Requirements

• 5–10 years of residential architectural drafting or design experience preferred
• Strong experience developing residential construction documents
• Experience with residential renovations and additions strongly preferred
• Experience preparing architectural and site drawings for building permit applications
• Working knowledge of residential construction methods and building components
• Ability to accurately field measure and document existing residential structures
• Ability to read and interpret surveys, architectural plans, structural drawings, and

construction documents

• Experience with municipal permitting, zoning, and plan review strongly preferred
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience with Chief Architect, SketchUp, Revit,

Adobe Suite, or similar architectural software

• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, organized, buildable drawings
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

simultaneously

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable communicating with municipalities, engineers, consultants, subcontractors,

and internal project teams

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to collaborate as part of a Design

Build team

• A degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Drafting, Landscape Architecture,

Residential Design, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not

required. Relevant professional experience will be strongly considered in place of formal

architectural/landscape architectural education.

• Architectural licensure is not required.

Compensation & Benefits

Full Time Base Salary: $60,000-$90,000 (Full-time based on experience and

qualifications)

Part Time Compensation: $35,000-$50,000 (Based on experience, qualifications, and

work schedule)

Annual Performance Incentives: $10,000-$20,000
