Position Overview
Our next Field Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the growth and impact of Scouting in our community. Serving Berks, Schuylkill, and a portion of Carbon counties in Pennsylvania. When selected, you will lead a team of four unit-serving executives to deliver measurable results in membership growth, new unit development, volunteer engagement, and Friends of Scouting success.

You will join the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Scout Executive, with the charge to lead change, inspire collaboration, and expand Scouting’s reach and relevance in every community we serve. Your leadership will directly influence the quality of service to our youth, the strength of our volunteer corps, and the future of Scouting in our council.

Responsibilities
Salary range: $60,000–$75,000 commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance is available for the selected candidate.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and professional development to four unit-serving executives.
- Lead staff and volunteers in achieving annual objectives for membership, fundraising, and program delivery.
- Develop and strengthen volunteer leadership to ensure sustainable growth and quality program delivery.
- Serve as a key connector between community leaders, chartered organizations, and the council’s professional staff.
- Contribute to council-wide strategies and initiatives as part of the senior leadership team.
- Support the Friends of Scouting campaign, including volunteer recruitment, cultivation, and recognition.
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration across assigned staff and volunteer teams.
- Represent the council in the community through public speaking, presentations, and relationship building.
- Ensure compliance with Scouting America policies, procedures, and youth protection standards.
- Demonstrated success as a professional in Scouting America or a comparable nonprofit/service organization.
- Proven ability to coach, motivate, and lead others toward ambitious, measurable goals.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including presentation and relationship-building.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related productivity tools.
- Must be eligible for employment in the United States, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain reliable four-season transportation.
- Prior experience directly supervising professional staff and managing team performance is desired.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle for program-related travel.
