Position Summary
The JR Welder is responsible for performing skilled welding and metal fabrication work to support the conversion of shipping containers into functional modular structures. This role requires proficiency in various welding techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to follow blueprints, shop drawings, and safety standards to ensure high-quality.
Key Responsibilities
· Weld structural and non-structural components for shipping container conversions.
· Cut, grind, and prepare metal surfaces for welding and assembly.
· Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical instructions.
· Install framing, reinforcements, and support structures according to project specifications.
· Operate welding equipment (MIG, Plasma, TIG as needed) and hand/power tools safely and effectively.
· Conduct quality checks on welds to meet company and industry standards.
· Assist with fitting doors, windows, and other openings into container structures.
· Work with team members to assemble and align containers modifications.
· Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on welding equipment.
· Follow all company safety policies.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
· 2 years of welding/fabrication experience.
· Proficient in MIG welding (additional techniques such as Stick or TIG are a plus).
· Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and measurement tools accurately.
· Familiarity with grinders, plasma cutters, torches, and other fabrication tools.
· Strong understanding of welding safety procedures.
· Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.
· Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, bend, and squat down for extended periods.
· Ability to climb step ladders.
· Manual dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination for precision welding.
