Boxing Out Negativity (BON) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth, aged 8 and up, on Chicago's West Side to realize their potential and avoid street violence. Founded in 2009 by Derek Brown, BON provides a free youth boxing program that goes beyond physical training, emphasizing civic engagement, team building, and mentorship. BON also hosts community-wide anti-violence initiatives, including the annual Street Love Ride, fostering positivity and unity. Guided by values of inclusivity, accessibility, and youth empowerment, BON strives to create meaningful change in young lives and reduce violence in the community.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role in Chicago, IL, for a Boxing Manager. The Boxing Manager will oversee the daily operations of the youth boxing program, ensuring a safe and inclusive training environment. Responsibilities include coordinating training schedules, managing coaches and volunteers, fostering relationships with participants and their families, organizing community events, and tracking program metrics. The Boxing Manager will also collaborate with local organizations and stakeholders to expand the program's reach and impact.
Qualifications
- Experience in program management, volunteer coordination, or team leadership
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for fostering relationships with youth, families, and community stakeholders
- Knowledge of boxing techniques, fitness training, or experience in sports-related roles is a plus
- Event planning and community outreach skills, particularly in organizing impactful public initiatives
- Problem-solving capabilities, adaptability, and a passion for youth mentorship
- Commitment to the mission of youth empowerment, violence reduction, and community engagement
Salary Range: 50k-60k
