Job Overview
We at Bowman Family Services, are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Fully Licensed Couples and Family Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in therapy and experience in working with children and families. The Couples and Family Counselor assists clients in feeling secure in communicating and sharing their feelings and understanding how their behaviors affect others. This role involves providing therapeutic support to families, helping them navigate challenges and improve their overall well-being. The Couples and Family Counselor will utilize various therapeutic techniques, including motivational interviewing and behavior management strategies, to foster positive outcomes for clients. Counselors willing to be licensed across other states is preferred. Additionally, specific training in EMDR and IFS is preferred.
Duties
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for families and children.
- Provide therapy sessions to clients, focusing on effective communication and relationship-building.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage client engagement and participation in the therapeutic process.
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to the unique needs of each child when applicable.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress using medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.
- Educate families about developmental disabilities and provide resources for additional support.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in family therapy. Specific training in EMDR and IFS is preferred.
Experience
- Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is required; current state licensure as a Therapist (LCMHC, LMFT, LCSW or equivalent).
- Experience working with families, including children.
- Proficiency in the understanding of ICD-10 coding is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Previous experience in behavior management techniques is highly desirable.
