Position Summary: The Lead Install Technician serves as the onsite execution leader responsible for coordinating daily installation activities, sequencing work, and ensuring all installation tasks are performed safely, accurately, and to defined standards. This role provides craft leadership without people‑management authority, working alongside Install Technicians to maintain productivity, quality, safety discipline, and commissioning readiness. The Install Lead reinforces standards, prevents quality drift, and ensures installation work proceeds in alignment with approved scope, drawings, and technical requirements.

Objectives:

  • Coordinate, sequence, and execute daily installation work to meet company standards and customer expectations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite while preventing deviations, shortcuts, or unapproved changes.
  • Deliver a smooth commissioning handoff to the Location Service Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign daily installation tasks to Install Technicians in alignment with project plans and sequencing standards.
  • Coordinate workflow, onsite task sequencing, and material readiness to maintain efficient and predictable progress.
  • Maintain and enforce safety standards, PPE compliance, and jobsite organization and order.
  • Ensure all installation work meets approved technical standards and specifications provided by the Install Manager.
  • Prevent shortcuts that may lead to safety hazards, rework, or commissioning delays.
  • Conduct quality checks and verify readiness before commissioning handoff.
  • Escalate schedule conflicts, scope gaps, drawing discrepancies, and quality concerns early to the Install Manager.
  • Document deviations, constraints, and field‑identified risks.
  • Clearly communicate daily priorities, expectations, and changes to Install Technicians.
  • Work hands on alongside technicians to provide guidance on sequencing, quality expectations, and installation methods.
  • Support training, skill development, and knowledge transfer in a non‑supervisory capacity.
  • Partner with the Location Service Manager to ensure strong coordination during commissioning preparation.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all lockout/tagout and hazard‑control procedures are followed.
  • Monitor site risks and initiate corrective action to prevent unsafe conditions.
  • Enforce the principle that safety and quality override schedule pressure.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical, installation, and field coordination skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacture guidelines and standards.
  • Experience with installation of structures and equipment involving electrical wiring, welding and fabrication, and plumbing.
  • Ability to operate scissor lift, gantry lift and other common material handling equipment.
  • Ability to produce quality TIG and MIG welds on stainless-steel materials.
  • Train and effectively communicate to customers and end users on equipment operation, mechanics, safety, and user repairs.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills suitable for onsite instruction.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple workflows, priorities, and constraints simultaneously.
  • High situational awareness and sound decision‑making skills in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to identify risks early and communicate or escalate issues effectively.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence without authority.

Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years’ experience in equipment installation, construction, mechanical work, or related technical field.
  • Welding experience required; sanitary stainless welding experience preferred
  • Prior experience as an Install Technician or similar field role preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead work in the field without managerial authority.
  • Knowledge of technical standards, drawings, and commissioning processes preferred.

Working Conditions: The role generally work long, unpredictable hours where overtime is common. Work revolves around a set number of projects and service calls rather than a set number of working hours. There can be exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures throughout the workday. Work can involve possible distraction/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body and extremities. Work is primarily performed at customer sites, most often in dairy parlors and related farm environments and may include exposure to mechanical parts, electricity, live animals, heat, mud and water. There is possible exposure to fumes and odors that may affect respiration and skin. Some travel may be required, including occasional multi-hour drives to customer sites. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $31.00 - $40.00 per hour
