Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter Responsibilities
- Review and analyze new and renewal submissions
- Price accounts using internal tools and prepare quotes and binders
- Set coverage terms, conditions, and exclusions based on each risk
- Negotiate pricing and terms with brokers and agents
- Evaluate loss history, financials, exposures, and profitability
- Monitor existing accounts and recommend adjustments as needed
- Refer complex risks to management when outside authority
- Maintain accurate underwriting files and documentation
- Handle endorsements and ensure compliance with guidelines
- Build and maintain strong broker and agency relationships
- Participate in virtual and in-person marketing visits
- Serve as a technical resource to the team
- Assist with mentoring and training junior staff
- Support business growth and retention strategies
- Support special projects and business initiatives
- 8 years of underwriting experience
- High school diploma
- Proficiency in Word and Outlook
- Experience in commercial auto insurance, specifically in trucking, garage, and towing
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Insurance certifications/designations preferred
- Experience writing in multiple states preferred
- Prior experience with insurance companies and larger MGAs preferred
- E&S underwriting experience preferred
- Medical coverage with 50% covered for the employee through United Healthcare / Oxford Liberty, eligible after 3 months
