Position Title: Senior Accountant



A growing financial services firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, investment portfolio accounting, and cash management for a diverse portfolio of client investment entities. This role will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing month-end and quarter-end close activities, reconciling accounts, validating transactions, and supporting budgeting and financial projections while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 3 years of accounting experience, strong financial reporting and reconciliation skills, and advanced Excel proficiency, including macros. Salary Range: $95,000 - $110,000 / annually, DOE

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements for managed investment entities and clients
• Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Support investment portfolio and bond accounting activities, including trade validation and cash management
• Investigate discrepancies, resolve reconciling items, and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards
• Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and 12-month rolling projections
• Utilize advanced Excel functions, macros, and automation tools to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to streamline processes, support special projects, and respond to client accounting inquiries
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience
• 3 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, fund accounting, public accounting, client accounting, or bond accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including macros and the ability to leverage AI-assisted automation tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to independently investigate discrepancies, manage recurring deadlines, and maintain accuracy during busy reporting periods
• Experience with bond accounting, fund accounting, or Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude for process improvement is a plus
• Proactive, dependable, and collaborative approach with strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
