HVAC Service Technician Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems
- Perform routine and emergency service calls at customer sites, including repairs, component replacements, and system adjustments
- Inspect, test, and calibrate HVAC controls
- Install, maintain, and repair electric motors, control panels, and associated electrical components tied to HVAC systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to support accurate diagnostics and repair work
- Conduct preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Communicate directly with building owners, facility managers, and tenants to explain issues, present solutions, and provide clear service recommendations in non-technical language
- Document service work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and follow-up recommendations in service management systems
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, mechanical codes, and manufacturer specifications
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service response outside of normal business hours when required
- Minimum 5 years journeyman-level installation and service of commercial HVAC equipment
- Experience with installation and service of commercial HVAC Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, Electromechanical Controls, Hydraulic Controls, Hydronic Controls and Pneumatic Controls
- Experience with installation and service of Electric Motors and Panels
- Must have current driver's license and a clean driving record
- Must be competent in diagnostics
- Confident speaking to building owners/representatives and translating complex things into simple solutions
- Universal EPA Refrigerant Handling License is required
- Journeyman HVAC License or Journeyman Specialty HVAC license is required
