Boulder County Human Services Department is seeking to hire a Human Services Bilingual APS Caseworker B. This is the journey level classification in the Human Services Caseworker series. This specific position is with Adult Protective Services.
The Human Services Adult Protection Services Caseworker performs a variety of complex human services and social work duties within the human services adult protection program.
Adult Protection Services caseworkers investigate allegations of the mistreatment, neglect, and self-neglect of at-risk adults. These caseworkers further evaluate and assess what the adult wants and needs to mitigate danger and improve safety. A critical aspect of this position is a working knowledge of assessing for safety and risk and determining level of intervention required by the Department of Human Services. Additionally, the person in this position will offer and coordinate supportive services to prevent, reduce or eliminate the current or potential risk using community-based services and resources in addition to family and friends.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remote and out of 3460 Broadway, Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $63,828.00 - $77,886.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
- First Round Interviews: Week of May 11th
- Second Round Interviews: Week of May 18th
- Language Proficiency Test: Week of May 25th
- Reference Check: Week of May 18th
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). - Conducts investigations of alleged mistreatment and self-neglect and performs other Adult Protection casework duties, according to guidelines outlined for a journey level caseworker
- Provides in-depth investigations (i.e. to include joint investigations with law enforcement and/or other agencies) and develops effective case plans to address risk/safety to meet the needs of at-risk adults
- Makes homes visits with clients, provides information regarding available services and other resources and coordinates the provision of the services (i.e. to include assisting clients in completing applications for services designed to meet their needs)
- Make collateral contacts to assist in the Investigation, Assessment, Case Plan and monitoring of services
- Testifies in Court and in front of Administrative Law Judge when necessary regarding Adult Protection clients
- Complete all casework documentation within required time-frames as set by the County and the State
- Participate in Red Team groups, scheduled supervision, Adult Protection Review team meeting, team meetings and division meetings
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:
- A bachelor's degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
AND
- 1 (one) year of human services casework experience
Additional related education may count towards required experience.

BILINGUAL SKILLS:
- Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized verbal/verbal and written demonstration. (tier 2 will be verbal, tier 3 written and verbal)
