POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manager for Strategic Execution will play a central role in advancing Boston Public Schools’ 5-year data and technology strategy by leading cross-functional coordination, driving organizational change, and building the structures needed to execute complex initiatives at scale.
This role is responsible for translating strategy into operational reality, ensuring that programs, systems, and teams are aligned to deliver on the district’s priorities for digital transformation, enterprise system modernization, and improved service delivery. Operating in a highly complex and evolving environment, this position will partner with leaders across Technology, Data & Accountability, Academics, Family & Community Engagement, Operations, and external partners to bring clarity to ambiguity, align stakeholders, and drive sustained execution.
This position requires a systems-oriented leader who can build and scale programs, strengthen governance and processes, and improve coordination across teams while maintaining a strong commitment to collaboration, equity, and human-centered leadership.

Strategy Execution, Program Design & Scaling
- Lead the execution of priority initiatives within the Technology department’s 5-year strategic plan, ensuring alignment between goals and operational delivery
- Design and build program structures, workflows, and operating models that enable scalable execution across initiatives
- Translate high-level strategy into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables across multiple workstreams
- Support the development and maturation of enterprise functions, including centralized device programs, enterprise application strategy, and IT operational improvements
- Serve as a central point of coordination across Technology, Data & Accountability, Academics, Family & Community Engagement, and Operations
- Align stakeholders with competing priorities, ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and outcomes
- Facilitate decision-making and maintain forward momentum across complex, interdependent initiatives
- Strengthen alignment between people, process, and organizational priorities
- Lead change management efforts to support adoption of new systems, processes, and operating models
- Develop and implement strategies to support organizational readiness, communication, and stakeholder engagement
- Build trust across teams and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support leaders in navigating ambiguity, complexity, and change
- Establish governance structures, decision-making processes, and accountability mechanisms for enterprise initiatives
- Design and implement execution frameworks, including tracking systems, dashboards, and performance monitoring tools
- Ensure transparency into program status, risks, and outcomes through clear reporting and communication
- Strengthen organizational discipline around planning, prioritization, and execution
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, dependencies, and barriers to execution
- Develop and track performance measures (KPIs, OKRs, SMART goals) to monitor progress and impact
- Continuously refine program structures and processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability
- Capture and apply lessons learned to inform future initiatives
- Promote a human-centered approach to leadership, emphasizing communication, coaching, and team development
- Support leaders and teams in building capacity to operate effectively within new systems and processes
- Foster psychological safety, collaboration, and shared ownership across teams
- Contribute to leadership development and organizational learning efforts
- Master’s degree in public administration, business, education, organizational leadership, or related field
- 5–7 years of experience leading cross-functional programs, organizational initiatives, or operational transformations
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling programs, systems, or processes in complex environments
- Experience driving organizational change and stakeholder alignment across diverse teams
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- An understanding of and commitment to gain greater understanding of what is necessary for an urban school system to enjoy continuous improvement in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.
- A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education.
- Experience in K–12 education, public sector, healthcare, or similarly complex, mission-driven organizations
- Background in organizational change, leadership development, or systems design
- Experience working in highly regulated or high-ambiguity environments
- Experience designing governance structures, dashboards, or execution frameworks
- Advanced degree in organizational leadership, public health, business, or related field
