At Boston Language Hub, our mission is to help language learners of all backgrounds achieve fluency in their target language, regardless of experience level. Founded by educators, we offer instruction to adults and teens (15 ) in over a dozen languages both online and in person at our location in Waltham, MA.
About the position:
Boston Language Hub is now hiring dynamic and experienced Part-Time Language Teachers for our in-person adult-ed classroom for the following languages:
- Spanish
- Mandarin Chinese
- Japanese
- Italian
- Arabic
(If you teach a language not listed above, still please feel free to reach out if interested as we often add languages based on student interest and can always keep you in mind if a need arises.)
Salary: $30 per hour
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Teach in-person group classes (4-8 students) and private lessons to students of varying levels/ages (15 and older) at our facility in Waltham, MA. Ability to teach both online and in person is preferred.
- Utilize provided textbooks and supplement lessons with self-made curriculum and activities that include grammar topics and cultural insights.
- Evaluate potential students in terms of level and ideal class placement.
- Maintain a regular schedule determined with the Program Director every 8 weeks; most group classes will be 1.5 hours each and will be arranged to be between 5:00pm (ET) and 9:00pm (ET) on weeknights and/or during the daytime on weekends, though private lesson times may vary.
- Establish a professional level of rapport with students to encourage the continuation of their linguistic education.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience
- Ability to develop lesson plans autonomously alongside provided textbooks and limited guidance from the Program Director
- U.S. work authorization– this is a contract position, so please be sure if you are on a visa that this type of work is acceptable under your particular conditions as we are unable to provide visa support
- Weeknight and/or weekend availability
- Online teaching experience in addition to classroom experience is preferred
- Enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a love of teaching
