Japanese Teacher - Part-Time (IN-PERSON)

New England Language School (NELS) is seeking a part-time JAPANESE language teacher for 9 to 18 hours of classes per week (IN PERSON) starting on June 8, 2026.

We are looking for a long-term part-time teacher who can teach in person. We offer classes all year. Below are the class schedules.

• Tuesday - Friday evenings: 6pm - 9pm
• Sundays: 10am - 1pm and 1:30pm - 4:30pm

The classes meet IN PERSON on weekday evenings and/or weekend days in Quincy, MA. NELS is conveniently located across the street from the Quincy Center MBTA Red Line train station.

New England Language School is a local institution that provides language education for adults and teenagers. Our mission is to provide the foreign language skills and cultural knowledge students need to communicate effectively and attain their personal, professional, or academic goals.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to applied linguistics, education, or a related field
• Have at least 1 year of Japanese language teaching experience
• Native or near-native fluency in Japanese
• Be familiar with Japanese culture.
• Be able to teach in person in Quincy, MA
• Be computer literate and competent using the internet, Microsoft office, and Zoom as some students may choose to attend class online.
• Be a Massachusetts resident.
• Be authorized to work in the USA
• Selected candidates will be asked to teach a demonstration lesson.

Job description

• Teach grammar, speaking skills, listening comprehension, writing skills, reading comprehension, pronunciation, and vocabulary to beginner to advanced level students using an assigned textbook
• Teach lessons based on the course learning objectives
• Give homework and feedback
• Maintain up-to-date records (i.e. attendance, timesheets, class notes.)

Compensation
$24-26 per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications
