ABOUT THE JOB:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief or designee of Police, the police investigator will be responsible for investigating, reporting and recommending action to resolve specific Public Safety issues and problems.

General Description
ABOUT THE JOB:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief or designee of Police, the police investigator will be responsible for investigating, reporting and recommending action to resolve specific Public Safety issues and problems.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receives and responds to tenant complaints, conducts investigations of both internal and external Boston Housing Authority criminal matters.
- Enforces applicable laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances and/or by-laws.
- Makes arrests, enforce summonses and initiates other processes against those who violate the law.
- Investigates and prepares civil cases, eviction cases, and other cases for the Authority.
- Works with the Legal Department and other Departments of the Authority to decrease criminal transgressions on BHA property.
- Aides in the initiation and operation of crime prevention programs.
- Works with the Boston Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Be able to work in a department that prioritizes community policing as the core operational philosophy.
- The ideal candidate must see himself or herself as a partner in the execution of 21st policing strategies that stress but is not limited to Partnerships/Prevention and Problem solving.
