Boston Golf Club (BGC) is a premier private golf course in Hingham, a south shore Boston suburb. As one of the best golf courses in Massachusetts, the kitchen team strives to mirror the simple but elegant golf with its food service. The front & back of house staff work closely together to provide an excellent culinary experience for its members and guests.
BGC is hiring a motivated, passionate line cook for a full-time seasonal position, April through November. Chef Sean is building a culture that promotes growth in culinary creativity, passion, and technique. As a small-scratch kitchen serving club casual cuisine, the kitchen crew works together through lunch and dinner services. The kitchen is open for a la carte service Wednesday through Monday with occasional catered events during the season. We work diligently to bring our members fresh and tasty menu items. A great example being our BBQ program, we cure and smoke our own beef jerky, bacon, and deli meats.
Specifically, we are looking for a cook that can stock their station and roll through a lunch or dinner service following the chef’s specifications. In addition, frequent menu changes are a norm in our kitchen, so being adaptable and a fast learner is vital to your success in our kitchen. Consistent exposure to different recipes and procedures will help stimulate growth as a culinarian. Working closely with the chefs and other cooks as part of a constructive team will help you cultivate your own creative style as a cook, while mastering culinary techniques.
· Availability to work full-time, 40 hours, anytime Wednesday-Monday
· Food preparation (i.e. dicing vegetables, butchering meats, preparing sauces, etc.)
· Consistent food prep and service following Chef’s specifications
· Stock the line with food prep and necessary tools prior to service
· Work both a la carte and banquet production
· Work as a team on the line during service
· Work all aspects of the line: fryer, grill, salad station, sandwich station, or sauté
· Maintain an organized and clean work environment
· Leave the workstation clean and organized at the end of shift
· Openness to asking clarifying questions and receiving feedback
· Carry out a positive and professional relationship with coworkers
· At least one year experience as a line cook at a restaurant
· Proficient knife skills (i.e. dice, rough chop, julienne, etc.)
· General understanding of standard cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment
· Generates exceptional product under the time restraints and pressure of service
· Proficient in food safety (i.e. allergy management, cross contamination prevention, etc.)
