POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Admissions. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the recruitment and admission process for international students.  

It is expected that all employees of the BAC are able to be flexible and work collaboratively in order to meet the needs of the College. Accordingly, other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned at any time to successfully meet the needs of the College.

 

PRIMARY ESSENTIAL Functions:

  1. Admissions Office
  • Assist international student population with the admissions and enrollment process   
  • Maintain student records and communication in Customer Relations Management system  
  • Respond to inquiries and applicants         
  1. Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the purpose of evaluating international credentials, issuing I-20 documents to new international applicants, and assist the supervisor in working with continuing international students to help maintain compliance with immigration law.  
  • Make independent decisions (relying on professional judgment) regarding discount aid offered to new students   
  • Make independent recommendations (relying on professional judgment) regarding recruitment travel   
  1. Marketing and Recruitment
  • Attend college fair and school visits, local and abroad  
  • Participate in onsite open houses for prospective students and their families
  • Assist in coordinating new student orientation and acceptance reception     
  • Help to write and edit print and online materials for the admissions office
  1. Other duties and projects, as requested

 

STANDARD EXPECTATIONS:

  • Collaboration: Success in this position requires cross functional collaboration with all the stakeholders (ex: bursar, financial aid, student life, advising, etc.) to ensure proper and complete support of international students during the admissions period
  • Presentation Skills: Success in this position requires the ability to conduct presentations (info sessions and open houses) in person and online in a polished and professional way. Representing the institution during recruitment evens both local and abroad
  • Communication Skills: Success in this position requires communication with students via email, zoom, and in person applying cross cultural awareness
  • Team and Interpersonal Skills:  Success in this position requires positive relationships with other team members including support staff and senior staff. 
  • Service Orientation:  Success in this position requires a service-oriented perspective in which, to the greatest extent possible, treat students and other employees in such a way that they feel well served by a professional representative of the BAC.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion:  Success in this position requires the ability not only to maintain the confidentiality of student and employee records, but also the ability to discern when it is appropriate to divulge privileged or confidential information.

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL criteria:  Earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in a college setting required
  • Previous admission experience and experience in an institution with open admissions preferred
  • Previous experience with international students preferred
  • Strong sale experience preferred
  • Knowledge of customer relations management systems preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred

 

Work Schedule requirments:

  • Hybrid options with minimum 2 days a week in the office
  • Some evening and weekend work
  • Some recruitment travel

 

SALARY RANGE: $50,000-$55,000
