POLICE OFFICER BOROUGH OF GROVE CITY

NOTICE OF EXAMINATION

*** $7,000 bonus paid out over the first year of employment if Act 120 Certified***

Borough will PAY TUITION and WAGE for uncertified applicants to attend a MPOETC academy to be a certified officer

A civil service examination will be held to begin the process of establishing a list of eligible candidates for the position of patrol officer in the Borough of Grove City.

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

1) They must be a citizen of the United States

2) They must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age before the deadline for submitting applications.

3) They must possess a diploma from an accredited high school or graduate equivalency diploma.

4) They must possess a valid motor vehicle license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

5) They must have a clear criminal history without any criminal convictions higher than a summary offense.

6) They will be required to produce positive proof of identification (ie: a valid picture driver license) when submitting the application packet.

7) Applicants must score 70% or higher on the written examination to be considered for further processing.

Application Packets may be secured from the Grove City Borough Office (123 W Main St, Grove City PA 16127) between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Application Packets and all required documents must be returned online or to the Assistant Borough Manager on or before 1200 Noon on Thursday, September 24th, 2026. Applications can be submitted in-person or by email to taylor@grovecityonline.com as one attachment.

**An application is not complete until the full Borough application is received, either by completing the online application or submitting a paper one. Any other submissions can be added to a candidate's submission, but a full application must be submitted to be eligible for testing**

THE WRITTEN EXAM WILL BE GIVEN AT THE GROVE CITY BOROUGH OFFICE 123 W MAIN ST, GROVE CITY PA 16127

PROMPTLY AT 9:00 A.M. ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th, 2026

Anyone arriving after 9:00 a.m. will not be tested. Must have valid photo ID the date of testing, prior to start of the test.

A PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST WILL BE ADMINISTERED AT 1:00 PM ON THE SAME DATE FOR ALL CANDIDATES PASSING THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION.

CANDIDATES SHOULD DRESS APPROPRIATELY OR BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES.

Physical Agility Testing will include Push-ups, Sit-ups, 1.5 Mile Run (timed), 300-meter run (timed). Candidates will be evaluated on and must pass these at the 30th percentile standard based upon the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research standards. This is a cumulative test. Each event is pass/fail; thus, if one event is failed the entire test is failed.
