Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Restaurant Cashier to join our team. As the first point of contact for many of our guests, you will play an important role in creating a warm and welcoming experience.
The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, attentive to detail, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment. You will be responsible for greeting customers, taking orders, processing payments, managing phone and online orders, and ensuring every order is accurate and properly packed.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
- Answer questions about menu items, pricing, specials, and promotions.
- Assist customers with menu selections and take orders accurately.
- Address customer concerns professionally and involve management when needed.
Cash Handling
- Process cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment accurately.
- Provide correct change and receipts.
- Maintain accuracy when handling the cash register.
- Follow all cash-handling procedures.
Order Management
- Accurately manage walk-in, phone, online, takeout, and third-party delivery orders.
- Communicate orders clearly with kitchen staff.
- Ensure orders are complete and properly packaged.
- Double-check orders before handing them to customers or delivery drivers.
- Resolve order discrepancies quickly and professionally.
Front-of-House Responsibilities
- Keep the cashier and front counter area clean, organized, and presentable.
- Restock napkins, utensils, bags, containers, sauces, and other supplies.
- Assist with light cleaning and other front-of-house duties as needed.
- Work as part of a team to keep service running smoothly.
Safety & Policies
- Follow restaurant policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working.
- Report any safety, security, or customer concerns to management.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
- Friendly and positive attitude.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable handling money and using a POS system.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to move around the restaurant and assist with front-of-house duties.
- Ability to work safely around common restaurant equipment and kitchen areas.
