Loan Operations Lead

Border Bank is seeking a Loan Operations Lead to join our Loan Operations team. This position may office at any Border Bank location.

The primary responsibilities of the Loan Operations Lead will be focused on processing commercial and ag loan documents, leading and participating in projects, and loan operations. The Loan Operations Lead will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a variety of functions that support the commercial and retail/consumer lending operations of the bank and will lead internal projects. This position will assist and be a back-up to the Loan Operations Manager and be cross trained in duties within the Loan Operations department to serve as a back-up when necessary.

Loan Operations Lead Key Responsibilities

• Provide Commercial and Consumer (Retail) Lending Operations support to the bank, including streamlining of workflows and ensuring written procedures are in place for lending support. Will identify, suggest, and lead implementation of workflow efficiencies.
• Assist in training new and existing Consumer Loan Support Specialists (CLSS) and Business Banking Associates (BBA) in completing tasks on their training checklist (except for consumer Mortgage tasks). Training may be done either in-person or virtually as needed.
• Lead projects where loan operations expertise is needed, be an active and contributing member of the project team, and complete tasks (e.g., research, testing, installation, monitoring, and ongoing duties) independently.
• Work closely with the Compliance department to ensure all procedures are aligned with Compliance guidelines and collaborate on regulatory changes to implement.
• Lead Audit and Examination preparations and needs for the Loan Operations department, with Loan Operations Manager oversight.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME), and when needed, the lead, with the Loan Operations Manager oversight, for new and existing product and software rollouts, coordinating with Retail Learning & Program Manager, Customer & Employee Experience Director, Credit Manager, Credit Administrator, and Compliance Manager, to ensure smooth implementation and user setup for consumer and commercial lending.
• Recommend and keep abreast of new technologies that focus on the development and enhancement of banking services. Will live in the solution and create efficient process improvement, lead other department personnel on the improvements and train others to create effective back up within department.
• SME of the following systems: Core banking software, Synergy, nCino/Expere, Cognos, Simplifile, Lien Solutions, and any other applicable software or websites that are needed to support loan operations. Understand parameters, use cases, guide and train on process and procedures, maybe an admin for various systems.
• Assist lenders by determining and obtaining any pre-closing due diligence documents needed on commercial and agriculture loans.
• Process loans while ensuring perfection of the bank's lien position and assisting lenders in providing excellent and timely customer service on commercial and agriculture loans.
• Upload and fund loans once documents are signed and ensure that all documents are uploaded appropriately on commercial and agriculture loans.
• Understand post-closing review of loan files to include the addition of ticklers and quality assurance on commercial and agriculture loans.
• Understand ongoing loan servicing for all uploaded loans for all business lines.
• Provide feedback to the Loan Operations Manager and Department on more efficient ways to complete QA.
• Work on monthly, quarterly, and annual loan file projects and reports.

Loan Operations Lead Education & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or completion of equivalent specialized training.
• 5 years of experience of similar or related experience.
• Prefer experience in loan accounting, business analytics, and project management.
