Payroll and HR Assistant

This position handles the operational aspects of the organization's payroll and supports the HR department in various administrative tasks. Responsibilities include processing employee paychecks, updating payroll records, and managing timesheets. Works closely with the HR team to ensure accurate employee data, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with State and Federal employment laws, assisting employees with HR-related inquiries, and supporting day-to-day HR operations.

Payroll Support

· Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with California wage and hour laws.

· Review and validate timecards, deductions, and adjustments.

· Maintain payroll records and employee files in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.

· Assist with garnishments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.

· Reconcile payroll reports and prepare summaries for the HR manager as needed.

· Coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate payroll journal entries and reporting.

Human Resources Support

· Assist with onboarding new employees, including preparation of offer letters, new hire paperwork, and I9 verification.

· Maintain and update employee records in HRIS and personnel files.

· Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.

· Assist with employee relations, performance documentation, and compliance tracking (training, certifications, etc.).

· Help organize employee engagement activities and HR communications.

· Ensure compliance with California employment laws, such as wage statements, meal/rest period documentation, and leave management.

Administrative Duties

· Answer all calls sent to the HR Department.

· Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.

· Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.

· Support audits (payroll/FLC's) and compliance reviews as needed.

Pay: $ $29.00 per hour
