POSITION: Signer/Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL) - Multiple Positions
LOCATION: Booth Building
SALARY: $24.07 - $25.19 per hour - Assistant Educational Signer/Interpreter
$33.29-$34.65 per hour - Signer/Interpreter- EIPA 4.0
$38.70 - $40.33 per hour - Signer/Interpreter- National Certification
SCHEDULE: Up to 6.50 hours per day, Monday-Friday
180-day work year
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Proficient sign language skills in a variety of systems
- Passing score on EIPA prior to start date, required.
- Proficient in American Sign Language required.
- Evidence of successful ability to work with the deaf/hard of hearing
- Demonstrated ability to carry out prescribed instructional management program
- Patience and warmth in working with students
- Ability to assume role of educational assistant and role of interpreter
- Demonstrated exemplary customer service and responsiveness
- Ability to work effectively with professionals in a school setting
- Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
- Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
- Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative, working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons
- Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
- Successful experience interpreting for hearing impaired students in a school setting
- Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Working with hearing impaired students
