Paint Estimator – Commercial Construction Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Paint Estimator with strong commercial construction knowledge and proficiency in industry-standard estimating software. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to accurately quantify materials and labor, prepare competitive bids, and support project teams throughout the preconstruction process. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously. Key Responsibilities * Review architectural drawings, specifications, addendums, and RFP documents to prepare accurate takeoffs and cost estimates* Utilize commercial estimating software to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing (e.g., **Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, STACK**, or similar)* Develop comprehensive bid proposals, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and production rates* Analyze job requirements and determine appropriate coatings, finishes, and application methods* Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with production capabilities and project goals* Maintain updated pricing data, vendor relationships, and historical cost information* Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope review meetings as required* Manage bid schedules, deadlines, and follow-up communication with clients and general contractors* Identify value-engineering opportunities and provide alternative solutions when needed Qualifications * **3 years of experience in commercial paint or coatings estimating*** Proficiency with **commercial estimating software** (required)* Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents* Understanding of commercial painting systems, materials, finishes, and industry standards* Excellent math, organization, and analytical skills* Strong written and verbal communication abilities* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple active bids* Experience in commercial construction, subcontracting, or related trades preferred **Bonus Skills** * Experience estimating drywall, coatings, specialty finishes, or multi-trade scopes* Familiarity with production rates, scheduling, and field operations* Existing relationships with GC estimators or vendors
