Boone Memorial Health clinics is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Phlebotomist to join our outpatient clinic team. This position is responsible for performing venipuncture and specimen collection for clinic patients of all ages while delivering courteous, safe, and efficient care in accordance with laboratory and clinic policies.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using aseptic technique in an outpatient clinic setting

Collect routine blood and urine specimens as ordered by a medical provider

Verify patient identity prior to specimen collection

Provide age-appropriate care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients

Collect specimens for chain-of-custody drug testing when required

Prepare and transport specimens to the laboratory following infection control procedures

Assist with reporting and clerical functions related to clinic laboratory services

Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked phlebotomy area

Answer phones, assess patient needs, and communicate appropriately with clinic staff

Work collaboratively with clinic staff, laboratory personnel, and providers

Participate in performance improvement activities

Comply with clinic, laboratory, and organizational policies and safety requirements

Attend required in-service education and training
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Formal training in phlebotomy
-
Valid phlebotomy certification
-
CPR certification
-
Valid driver’s license
-
Point of Care Technician license (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Basic computer and clerical skills
Preferred Qualifications

Previous outpatient clinic or physician office experience

Experience with CLIA-waived testing
Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday

Frequent lifting of less than 10 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Ability to reach, pull, kneel, crouch, and perform coordinated tasks
Additional Information

May be required to transport specimens to the main laboratory
