Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and processing, and providing exceptional patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, techniques, and physiology to support diagnostic testing and patient health. The Phlebotomist will work closely with medical staff to facilitate efficient specimen collection in a clinical or hospital setting, contributing to quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using proper aseptic techniques
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately following laboratory protocols
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition prior to specimen collection
- Ensure patient comfort and provide excellent patient service throughout the procedure
- Maintain proper documentation of collected specimens and relevant patient information
- Follow safety guidelines and infection control procedures to prevent contamination or injury
- Assist with specimen processing, including preparation for laboratory testing
- Adhere to hospital or clinical policies related to specimen handling and patient care
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the phlebotomy area
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to blood collection
- Certification or training in phlebotomy preferred; relevant laboratory experience is a plus
- Excellent patient service skills with compassionate communication abilities
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment within hospital or healthcare facilities
- Basic understanding of vital signs measurement and patient care standards
- Prior hospital experience is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
