About The Job
The Staff Accountant applies accounting principles to analyze financial data, prepare journal entries, and prepare account reconciliations, primarily within Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets. The Staff Accountant will work as a key member of the corporate accounting team as well as with other departments. This role requires analytical thinking and attention to detail.
Role Summary
This role will primarily maintain Fixed Asset and Accounts Receivable functions. For Fixed Assets, this includes maintaining capital project schedules and ownership of CIP as well as posting of monthly depreciation entries. For AR, this includes maintaining customer account agings, payment applications, reconciliations between the general ledger and subledger, and calculation of bad debt. This role collaborates with many departments.
Role Responsibilities
Month-End close:
Preparation of journal entries for multiple companies, including recording month-end accruals, allocations, amortizations, etc.
Prepare and maintain account reconciliations.
Prepare variance notes when needed for monthly P&L meetings.
Fixed Assets:
Assist in managing fixed assets and CIP across all subsidiaries including preparing weekly capitalization reports for distribution to executive management.
Accounts Receivable:
Manage the accounts receivable function including invoice preparation, processing collections, and performing month-end reconciliations.
Follow up with other departments or external parties may be required.
Special projects/other tasks as assigned.
Role Qualifications
Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use hands/arms to operate keyboard, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.
Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or crouch while performing daily activities of the job.
Travel required – minimum, if any.

Role Qualifications
- Required Qualifications:
- Previous accounting experience preferred
- Experience working with larger accounting systems a plus (i.e. Lawson, Oracle)
- Detail oriented and comfortable analyzing large volumes of data
- Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills a must
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- Ability to function in a team or as an individual contributor
- Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and assignments
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems
