The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager and plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional seeking growth with an established and expanding organization.
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a range of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting support, reconciliations, and oversight of accounts payable and receivable processes. This position ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform general ledger postings and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts in a timely manner
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
- Process accounts payable vouchers for weekly payments
- Prepare and issue customer invoices for goods and services
- Monitor account balances and investigate discrepancies or inconsistencies
- Maintain accurate billing records, adjustments, and documentation
- Process and track collections activity, including follow-up on outstanding accounts
- Analyze financial data and assist in preparing reports for management
- Maintain organized accounting files and documentation for audits
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a Staff Accountant or advanced AP/AR role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software is a plus
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service mindset and problem-solving abilities
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
